Call to Order

ASUAF Senate Meeting 173-F was called to order Sunday, October 18, 2009, at 4:03pm in the Rasmusen Library Media Classroom 340 by Senate Chair Joshua Luther. Senate Clerk (interim) Patrick Sanders, President Adrian Triebel, and Vice-President Todd Vorisek were also present.

Roll Call

Present were Senators Bole, Boone, Brown, Carvajal, Caulfield, Chambers, Cunningham, Duffy, Earl, Ewers, Freitag, Geary, Luther, Molnia, Richards, and Wassillie.
Excused were Senators Martin and Pendleton
Tardy was Senator Lewis(4:32pm).

Approval of Minutes

Senator Carvajal motioned to approve minutes 173E, and Senator Molnia seconded. Without objection Minutes 173-E were approved.

Excused was Senator Ewers.

Approval of Minutes

Senator Carvajal motioned to table minutes 172-N, and Senator Duffy seconded. Without objection Minutes 172-N were tabled. Senator Duffy motioned to approve Minutes 173-C and Senator Wassillie seconded. With no objection the minutes were approved.

Consideration of Appointments

8-29-09 

Call to Order 11:10 @ Gruening Building

Present: Molnia, Duffy, Chambers

Guests: Josh Luther, Vice President Trisek, President Trieble

*Note: Senator Chambers called White in order for him to vote on several issues.

President Triebal made appointed Andrea Devers to the SRC board, Michael Godlum and James Haliday to the TAB Board, Ben Molnia to the Nanook Traditions Board, and Josh Luther, Jamal Brown and Keane Richards to the Senate.

Senator Molnia’s appointment was approved.

Senator Chambers moved to send table the TAB Board and SRC Board  nominees until the full senate met. Senators Chambers and Duffy voted in favor, Senator Molnia was opposed. The motion passed and the appointments were tabled.

Senator Chambers moved to send the appointments of Jamal Brown and Keane Richards to IA, Senator Duffy seconded. The appointments were sent to IA without objection.

Senator Chambers moved to send the appointment of Joshua Luther to IA. The motion died without a second.

Joshua Luther was confirmed to the senate.

Call to Order 1:25 @ Gruening Building

Excused: Chambers

Senator Molnia made a motion to make senate seats that had been declined by their winners vacant, and executive appointments. Senator White seconded. Senators Molnia and White voted in favor, Senator Duffy was opposed. The motion passed

Senator Duffy made the motion to recommend adopt on all of the bylaw changes the committee had discussed. Senator Molnia seconded. Senator Duffy voted in favor, Senators Molnia and White voted against. The motion failed.

Senator Duffy moved to allocate $200.00 to sending representatives to the Juneau Board of Regents meeting. Senator Molnia seconded. The motion passed without objection.

Senator Chambers moved to allocate $100.00 to a gift certificate to Amazon.com as incentive to filling out student survey. Ryan Duffy seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

Senator Chambers moved to recommend changing the rules regarding impeachment (Rule 8.12 d) to make the trial no longer in executive session. Ben Molnia seconded. Chambers and Molnia voted in favor, Duffy voted against. The motion passed.

*Note: Sabra said we are not allowed to make this change.

Senator chambers moved to recommend amending the recess rule to allow the senate chair to call for a 5 minute recess. Senator Duffy seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
