Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order Sunday, November 1, 2009 at 4:03pm in in the Alumni Lounge in Constitution Hall by Senate Chair Joshua Luther. Senate Clerk (interim) Patrick Sanders and President Adrian Triebel.
Roll Call:
Present were Senators Boone, Brown, Caulfield, Chambers, Cunningham, Duffy, Freitag, Lewis, Luther, Molnia and Richards.
Excused was Senator Bole.
Unexcused were Senators Currey, Earl, Geary and Martin.
Tardy were Senators Ewers(4:07) and Pendleton (4:09).
Approval of Minutes
Senator Duffy motioned to table minutes 173F and 173G and Senator Chambers seconded. Without objection the minutes were tabled.
Consideration of Appointments

Without objection the appointment was sent to University Relations Committee.

Officer Reports
Senate Chair - Joshua Luther
He helped the GRD with the Candidate Forum, attended the GCC meeting, was involved in the Board of Regents Meeting, escorted Peter Finn, Coalition of Student Leaders Chair, around UAF, talked to Hutchison staff about the ASUAF fee at Hutchison.
President - Adrian Triebel
Attended the GCC meeting, the GCC provided a resolution about the Non-descrimination, and invited the chair of GCC to come to ASUAF Senate Meeting, met with Don Foley, Dean of Students, about SIREN, went to TVC and spoke to student leaders there to get them involved, helped advertise the candidate forum, met with ASUAF Cabinet, met with a PhD student about a student complaint, met with President Hamilton about the student wage increase, the SRC Board met but didn't make quorum, met with Jake Poole to get a Chancellors appointment to the SRC Board, attended to the BoR meeting, and had an open house at ASUAF on Saturday.
Recycling Directors - Ryan Good
He dealt with stockpile cartridges that had developed in the office, he has been in contact with the Rescue Mission who will collect newspaper and cardboard, he said not to tell people that paper isn't being recycled anymore, because they get pissed off, he talked to Raef from Facilities Services about paper recycling, he was late to an SCTF meeting, and talked to Res Life about getting small bins back in the dorms, and has some ideas for 'rewarding recycling.'
Government Relations Director - Joshua Luther
She organized the candidate forum, she spoke at the BoR meeting, talked to President Hamilton, and met with Regent Compton.
Whitehorse Governance Conference - Patrick Sanders
He attended the 'Governance Under the Midnight Sun'
RHA - RHA Representative Freitag
They had their Halloween Carnival. They will have another meeting in two weeks on Tuesday.
Parking Committee - Senator Ewers
Has not met yet. Has been talking to people about parking issues, primarily off campus. Has been researching 'scale based punishment systems.' Email jewers1@alaska.edu
Chancellors Family Friendly Committee - Adrian Triebel
They need a representative.
Technology Advisory Board - Senator Chambers
Is meeting Saturday to vote on funding requests.
For the Good of the Senate
Senator Lewis asked about the sage issue in Hess Village. Senator Luther said that people are needed for face painting.

Executive Committee - Senator Chambers
They haven't received any applications, and talked about the Executive Officer's pay. All members were in attendance.
Internal Affairs Committee - Senator Duffy
They discussed what ASUAF's goal should be and talked about reducing bylaws.
Student Affairs Committee

They tabled SB 173-011 Face Paint and they talked about poll questions.
University Relations Committee
- Senator Caulfield
They talked to Kiteiski and recommened adopt, they didn't go over Ashleigh Strange – Media Board and Heather Currey – Elections Board, Jay Leonard will be coming to their meeting next week and e-Follett will be coming on the 13th from 12:30-1:30pm in the Multi Level Lounge.
Public Relations Committee - Senator Cunningham
Senator Ewers was excused all other members were present. They talked about logisitics of the Juneau trip.

Special Orders
SRC Board
Senator Duffy nominated Senator Duffy and he accepted the nomination. Senator Freitag nominated Senator Boone and he accepted the nomination. Senator Chambers moved to close nominations for the SRC Board and Senator Freitag seconded. By a vote of 6-5 with the Senate Chair voting Senator Boone was appointed to the SRC Board.
Elections Board
The Elections Board proposed the change of "201 General elections shall be held in April and November of each year." to "201 General elections shall be held in April and December of each year." By a vote of 2-7 the change was not confirmed.
Second Reading of Legislation
SR 173-003b ASUAF's Stance on Non-descrimination
By a vote of 7-0 the resolution passed.
CB 19-001 Club Council Funding
Senator Ewers read the bill. Senator Boone motioned to close to discussio. There was no second the motion failed. Senator Chambers moved to table and Senator Duffy seconded. Without objection the bill was tabled. Senator Molnia motioned for a five minute discussion and Senator Lewis. Senator Lewis motioned to amend the recess to be 15 minutes. The Senate went to recess at 5:18pm. The Senate reconvened at 5:23pm. Senator Chambers withdrew her motion. Senator Duffy moved to table and Senator Chambers seconded. Senator Richards motioned to close discussion and Senator Chambers. By vote of 6-1 discusstion as closed. By a vote of 3-1 it was tabled.
Other Business
Senator Chambers talked about condoms, she said we'd have them Monday or Tuesday. She stated there's a gonorrhea outbreak in the dorms.
